Drawing inspiration from the collaborative Guardians of Creation project, and to promote the theme of this year’s Season of Creation, ‘To Hope and Act with Creation’, this online event will showcase how dynamic parishes can offer an inspirational model for others to enable them to take meaningful action for the environment.
A panel of experts and parish innovators will discuss how to promote greener practices within our local communities in a variety of settings. They will share their experiences and offer best practice and success stories with the goal of inspiring parishes to reduce their environmental footprint and enhance biodiversity.

Dr Roland Daw
A Senior Lecturer in Strategy and Entrepreneurship at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. He has been studying sustainability and decarbonisation in the voluntary sector since 2014. Roland has been the research lead on the Guardians of Creation Project since 2020, a multi-institutional programme investigating the technical, sociological, organisational, and theological paths to sustainable and ecologically sensitive change in the Catholic Church.
Kirsty Wright
Head of Property for the Diocese of Plymouth. She holds a degree in Building Surveying & the Environment and has worked in private practice and for a local authority. Kirsty is also a Director in a company developing, refurbishing and constructing properties, providing technical advice to the parishes and the Diocese with maintaining, improving and developing parish properties, covering environmental, building fabric, and cyclical maintenance works in an appropriate context. She also sits on the Historic Churches Committee, a statutory committee established by the Patrimony Committee of the CBCEW, on behalf of the Diocese overseeing Listed places of Worship.

She will provide valuable insights into their approach, offering practical tips and encouragement for those aspiring to make their parishes more environmentally friendly
