Krakow... another major step on our pilgrimage

On Saturday May 7th we gathered at St.Brendan's Catholic Sixth Form College outside Bristol for our third and final formation day. As you can see from our photos nearly all our pilgrims managed to attend and we were happy to be joined by Bishop Declan from Clifton and Bishop Mark who will also join us in Kraków.

Bishop Declan was the principal celebrant at our commissioning mass. He reminded us to notice people and to respond to the needs of those who cry out for our help. He encouraged us to support each other on our pilgrim journey and to step out of our comfort zones as we seek to be merciful, like the Father.

We prepared for our liturgy by reflecting on the Lampedusa Cross and pilgrims brought up their messages of hope for refugees as part of our offertory. These are being sent on to CAFOD.

We spent the rest of our day getting to know each other better through team challenges, including an impromptu football match at lunchtime; formulating our code of conduct, absorbing health and safety advice, receiving our WYD shirts and catching up with the latest news on our itinerary. It was a busy, busy day.

Thank you to all our pilgrims for keeping so cheerful even after a very early start!

Not long to go now so keep us in your prayers.
