Papal Knighthood for devoted service to the Diocese

On Sunday January 17th, Bishop Mark O’Toole celebrated Mass at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Kingsbridge and invested Sir Brian Pearse as a Knight of St Gregory. This Papal knighthood has been conferred on Sir Brian not only for many years of devoted and voluntary service to the Diocese of Plymouth as a Trustee, as a member and chairman of the Diocesan Finance Committee, and currently as chairman of the Schools’ Academy Trust (CAST) but also for a lifetime of generous service in the many parishes in which he has lived.

After the ceremony, Sir Brian invited the Bishop and parishioners to lunch at Thurlestone Golf Club which was a very happy occasion, and a fitting way to celebrate the honour bestowed upon him.
