Paray le Monial
A group of priests, ordained in recent years, travelled with Bishop Mark to Paray le Monial for a five day pilgrimage to this beautiful French town where St Margaret Mary Alacoque, who was a sister of the Visitation Convent received several private revelations of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the 17th century. The shrine is now cared for and animated by members of the Emmanuel Community, founded in 1981, who seek to respond to God’s call to holiness through intense Adoration and Charismatic prayer groups. During the time there, we spend some time sharing some of our experiences in ministry as well as benefiting from the wisdom of several members of the Emmanuel Community. We were privileged to celebrate Mass in the chapel of the Apparitions and join in Adoration and the Prayer groups organised by the community. It was an enriching and renewing experience and on the way back we visited Notre Dame de Sept Fons, a Cistercian monastery with eighty monks with an average age of 30 and offering genuine monastic hospitality.
